What You Will Learn

In emergencies, there are often increased risks of gender-based violence (GBV) incidents against the community. Seeking and accessing support can be challenging for some survivors due to social stigma associated with GBV or fear of retaliation, which contributes to the widespread invisibility of the issue.

Learn how to respond safely and ethically if someone tells you about gender-based violence (GBV) incident in emergency settings.  This resource provides guidance on how to safety respond and support survivors of gender-based violence incident to ensure their safety, dignity, and confidentiality. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) designed this guide in collaboration with the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation for humanitarian professionals, field staff, and program managers who are in direct contact with affected populations.
